interspace 2010
Visualisation Lab (JPL 026)
Banff Centre
Banff, Alberta, Canada
Doors @ 19h30
Technologically mediated creative practice allows artists not only to express through the traditional tools of their craft, but also to adopt methodology derived from the worlds of science and research in order to realise their vision. The nine pieces in this exhibition illustrate examples of installation, graphic art and live performance created by practitioners who live in the interspace between art and science, bridging the physical and the digital and bringing together the real and the virtual.
The interspace 2010 exhibition is presented by the 10th International Symposium on Smart Graphics, an annual gathering bringing together an interdisciplinary group of researchers and practitioners, in collaboration with the Banff New Media Institute. The pieces were selected from an open call for art submissions, as well as by invitation. The exhibited works represent the efforts of artists from around the world, including contributions from the UK, Japan, Korea and Canada.
Curated by Robyn Taylor and Pierre Boulanger.
